WASP—Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need WASP if I'm already running GWAVA?
The WebAccess Gateway by-passes the GWIA and MTA within GroupWise. If GWAVA is running at the MTA, it will not see email attachments loaded through the WebAccess Gateway. This is why it is important to incorporate both GWAVA and WASP for complete protection.
Does WASP do the virus scanning itself?
When WASP receives an email attachment, it passes that attachment to a 3rd party Anti-Virus product. This product does the actual scanning of the file and when done, returns the file to WASP for release to the WebAcccess Gateway.
Do I have to license WASP for everyone inside my GroupWise system?
WASP is designed to protect your entire GroupWise system from being infected by a single user inadvertently uploading a virus into your GroupWise message store. You license WASP to protect all the users within your GroupWise system.
Does WASP run on Linux?
Currently WASP runs at the WebAccess Servlet on NetWare.
Can WASP clean the file instead of removing it?
Yes. WASP can remove the virus and replace it with an explanation of why the file was cleaned.
Do I need GWAVA to run WASP?
WASP is designed as a stand alone product. It does not require GWAVA to be present inside the system. Although, GWAVA is able to protect a GroupWise system at the MTA level and should be part of every GroupWise system for maximum protection from email viruses.
