How does Redline gather information from GroupWise?
It uses agent-based architecture to gather information from GroupWise running on NetWare, Linux and Windows. The agents communicate with the Redline Control Center to provide updates, alerts and reports.
Can I use it remotely?
Yes. Redline’s Control Center is a web-based application that can be securely viewed from any location. It supports Firefox, Netscape and IE browsers.
I'm using Redline 3.0/3.1, how can I upgrade to Redline 3.5?
You will need to upgrade your Redline Control Center (RLCC) and agents (RLAG) manually one last time. Once you have your Redline agents on 3.5, every subsequent upgrade will be handled via the new centralized online update feature which is found in the Redline Control Center>Configure>Online Update.
How does the new online update feature work?
All updates for both the Control Center and Redline agent can now be downloaded and applied from the Control Center, eliminating the need to download and install updates manually. We recommend you download all updates (both RLCC & RLAG) and apply the Control Center updates first, then the agent updates secondly.
How does the new centralized configuration feature work?
In previous releases of Redline, administrators would determine what to monitor and report upon (GroupWise agents for example) from the Agent configuration files on each server that Redline monitored. With the new centralized configuration feature, once you install a Redline 3.5 Agent (RLAG), it will connect back to the Control Center (RLCC) and from there you can decide what it is that you want to monitor, thus eliminating the need to configure agents manually from each separate server being monitored.
How is the new user report different from the GroupWise user report?
The new user report is designed to isolate all information related to an individual user without having to sort through an entire post office to find a single user’s data. The new user report provides details about the user’s post office, user’s DB and message DB, mailbox size, mailbox limit, message statistics, login information and more.
I need to run reports on email usage on a regular basis. Can Redline generate reports every month and email them to me?
Yes, Redline has a report scheduler for exactly this purpose. Any of the Redline reports can be scheduled to run on a recurring basis and can also be automatically emailed to a number of email accounts.
My organization needs to have a better understanding of the overall size of our GroupWise system before we start archiving with Retain. Can Redline help with that?
Yes, Redline has built-in reports that are ready to provide you with all the information you need. Redline can help you determine the overall size of your post offices and can additionally report on your biggest mailboxes should you need to trim down some excess before archiving.
Can I make changes to my GroupWise system or GWAVA solutions with Redline?
No, Redline is "read-only" and is meant to show you where potential problems lie. You will still need to address any issues you have and Redline will tell you exactly where to look.
Can I read end users’ email with Redline?
