GWAVA Acquires GroupWise/NetMail Security Provider Submersion

GWAVA, the leading provider of Novell GroupWiseÐ software solutions today announced that it has acquired Submersion Corporation.

MONTREAL, QUEBEC—March 8, 2005—GWAVA, the leading provider of Novell GroupWiseÐ software solutions today announced that it has acquired Submersion Corporation, provider of GEE Whiz software, a security product for GroupWise and NetMail that helps nearly 1,000 businesses worldwide protect their servers from viruses, worms and spam. GWAVA will use this acquisition to further provide its customers with new solutions to help protect them from malicious software.

The acquisition of Submersion plays a key part in GWAVA's GroupWise security strategy, providing anti-virus and anti-spam technologies that shield GroupWise servers and supply customers with multiple layered protection that can help with increased detection rates of malicious software.

It is common practice in business networks to use a set of layered defenses to improve protection against malicious code. Similarly, effective protection of the GroupWise environment requires layers of defense.

Integration with infrastructure. The layers must be tightly integrated not only with each other, but with the rest of the GroupWise system. Without such integration, a security solution can be unmanageable, have poor performance and let attacks through. 

Protection from the latest threats. Malicious threats evolve quickly. Whether the attack is an email virus or a slew of unwanted spam, the defense must respond quickly and take advantage of the latest security solutions.
