GWAVA Messenger - July 2010

A Year in Transition

We are ending our first quarter of the 2010/2011 fiscal year with our course still clear. This is the year of transition.

Our goal for this year has been to find every last GroupWise customer on the planet. We anticipated a drop in the GroupWise market as the economy begins to recover. We are continuing our efforts to milk this market for every penny in order to fuel our growth into new markets like Microsoft, instant messaging, anti-virus, and Retain for BES.

This places us in the position of carefully using our resources to keep the revenue coming in from GroupWise and Novell while leveraging every opportunity to expand our presence in these new markets.

The good news is that our relationships with our key vendors has never been stronger. Novell, Kaspersky, Verizon, RIM, and others believe in GWAVA.

You will be seeing more changes to our literature, website, webinar topics, and events we attend as we make this transition.

Competitive Switch Promotion

GWAVA is offering a competitive upgrade to customers of The Messaging Architects. Our offer lets current M+Archive customers switch to Retain for the cost of one year of maintenance on Retain. We will provide the Retain licenses for free and honor their remaining paid subscription period to M+Archive. This offer is also available to M+Guardian customers to switch to GWAVA. To read more about this promotion, go to www.gwava.com/tma

In conjunction with this promotion, GWAVA is offering a webinar for both our partners and customers. Taylor will offer lots of reasons to switch to Retain and explain how the upgrade works. Dates for this webinar are: June 15 (11 am EDT) for partners and June 17 (11 am EDT) for customers. Registration for the webinar is at https://gwava.on.intercall.com/confmgr/

Welcome to our New Partner - Tmi3

We are excited that Tmi3, a leading messaging solutions provider in the Netherlands, has joined GWAVA as a partner in Europe. In 2003, Mark Beermann, Managing Director atTmi3, started the Messaging Architects in the Netherlands. Now, they have joined with GWAVA.

"We are extremely pleased for the opportunity to represent the GWAVA product line," said Beermann. "Having a financially strong vendor with advanced technical solutions will be a tremendous benefit to our European customer base

GWAVA Spring Tour

The Spring Technical Tour is just about wrapped up. Out of 20 cities in the tour, only San Antonio, TX and Minneapolis, MN are still coming up. So far, 130 people have attended the tour. Kaspersky has been touring with us and giving a presentation about security. We are concentrating on training for Retain and Reload during the tour, along with an introduction to Retain for BES. We've received a lot of positive feedback from our follow-up survey.

UK Stadium Tour

Because the EMEA stadium tour was such a success, we decided to extend the GWAVA tour to the UK. The tour will travel to four different stadiums in the UK: London-Stamford Bridge June14th; Manchester-Old Trafford June 15th; Leeds-Elland Road June 16th; and Edinburgh-Murrayfield June 17th. The tour, which is free to attendees, will center around archiving and include a behind-the-scenes tour of the stadium. Here's the link to registration: http://www.etouches.com/12121

GWAVA Visits Times Square

On May 13, New York City played host to the GWAVA Regional Summit with co-sponsors, Kaspersky and Novell. Both SKyPRO and Notify Technologies also sponsored the event. The GWAVA Regional Summit was a single-day event patterned after GWAVACon, with technical sessions from GWAVA and sponsors. Sessions included: "Hardening Your GroupWise System," "Successfully Fight the Exchange Challenge plus GWAVA 5 and Kaspersky," "Migrate a Novell GroupWise 8 System to OES," and "GWAVA Reload, Notify, SKyPRO and Retain." Attendance wasn't quite what we had hoped, but those who came had a very positive experience.

Upcoming Product Releases

Product development has been working hard to get new releases with support for expanded offerings. Here are the upcoming product releases:

  • Retain—2.0 is in public beta now with a planned release in mid-July release
  • GWAVA—version 5 is slated for a mid-July release
  • Redline 3.5—due out before the end of the summer
  • Reload 3.5—due in September

Here’s a run-down of the most anticipated features and their expected inclusion in our products:

  • GWAVA support for Novell Teaming—will be in V5 release.
  • GWAVA support for DataSync—we may be able to include this support fairly quickly.
  • Cloud projects—Reload, Retain and GWAVA. We are working on these projects and will make an official announcement this summer.
  • Pulse—we are currently working with Novell to provide AV and content control for Pulse.
  • Retain for OCS—this will likely be a part of Retain for Exchange (late 2010, early 2011)
  • Retain support for Exchange—in progress. Should have a beta by the end of the year.
  • Retain for Lotus Sametime—we’re working on this and should know more soon.
