We put together a couple of product training and information sessions in October.
The first event we did was at the beginning of the month and took place in Western New York. I had received a request from a large group of school districts I work with there. They asked if we could provide a version of last Summer's GroupWise 8 Tour we presented with Novell. What we did was take it a step further, and also added content on Reload, Retain, ZenWorks and of course GroupWise 8. The event was very well received and featured many questions in each of the 3 sessions. We actually walked out with a great, real world Reload user story, which we will be publishing shortly. There's nothing better than having a customer heap praise on a product, and talk to others about how it saved their butt.
The next event was in New York City (mid-month), where we provided hands on Reload and Retain training. What a great session it was, thanks to Stephen Cohen, GWAVA Product Manager and trainer extraordinaire. Over 30 people had registered but only 15 showed up. I attribute that to the fact the event was on a Tuesday morning, after a long weekend. We definitely won't be scheduling any training on the first morning of the week, from here on out. Then again it is always about quality rather than quantity, and this session was all quality. I can honestly say that it was the most interactive training I've been involved in. Every single person in the room asked Stephen and each other questions about experience with the product. What I took away from the session was the knowledge that our clients will get a lot more value from our products through more training.
The goal moving forward is to offer one training session per quarter in cities like New York, Boston and Philadelphia and then by request in other areas.
Stay tuned for information about our upcoming, Spring training sessions, and more blog entries.
