La liberté de choix
Categorie: Herbert LeferingGWAVA est maintenant en vigueur depuis 10 ans. Ce n'est pas très spectaculaire, mais il est évidemment impressionnante, ce qui s'est passé au cours des années.
GWAVA is now existing for 10 years. This is not very spectacular, however it is of course impressive, what happened over the years. Our focus in the beginning was just based on one product from Novell = GroupWise. GWAVA got to be the biggest 3rd party vendor for this great collaboration product. Over 50 % of all GroupWise customersworldwide are at least using one of our products, most of the customers use 2-3 products at the same time. This is why most of the GroupWise customers and partners equate GroupWise and GWAVA. If you have followed the news, it was Attachmate who is going to own Novell in the future and not GWAVA. ;-) And we are very happy about that and will support Attachmate as good as we have been supporting Novell over the years.
Adding new products for GroupWise and other products from Novell like Vibe OnPrem was something we did over the years to grow our business. This is still working fine, however we have big plans for the future, we of course want to get better and bigger. We have so many young and enthusiastic people working in our organisation, which are hungry for continuing the GWAVA success story.
So our strategy in the future is to support other "platforms" as well. No big surprise, but GWAVA is going to support Microsoft Exchange as well. Two of our products already do support Exchange: GWAVA for the antivirus/-spam and Retain for Archiving. Some former GroupWise customers have migrated away towards Exchange and they are happy, that they could use the known technology from GWAVA. They know our quality of products, they know our outstanding support and they honour the very long and good relationship
with GWAVA. We are definitely going to continue going that path, which means, that other products for Microsoft Exchange are going to follow in the future. Don´t ask for details, please. I don´t have them at the moment and if I would have them, I would not be allowed to talk about.

Just two comments for GroupWise customers, which are planning to migrate away from GroupWise:
1. You might rethink about your strategy. I´m pretty sure, that there are going to be big changes with Attachmate. Listen to them first before making a final choice. Come to Brainshare in October in Salt Lake City. And then make your final decision.
2. Our archiving product Retain is working with GroupWise and Exchange. But it is not only an archiving product, it could be used for the data migration as well. So instead of throughing away money out of the window for just buying a very expensive migration tool, you should think about buying Retain, which would deliver migration AND archiving to you.
We also have a great product, which is archiving BlackBerry PIN/SMS/Phone call logs, independent from the collaboration system the customer is using. So the customer could use a BlackBerry Enterprise Server with GroupWise, Exchange or Notes and could use Retain for BlackBerry Enterprise Server from GWAVA.
But we do not only have "freedom of choice" for the endcustomers. Internally we are spending a lot of time in creating a new partner program for our resellers. This partner program is close to 100% ready and will get it out very soon. Our existing channel partners will get invitations to webinars, etc. very soon. I personally spent a lot of time talking with other vendors and talking with lots of resellers to really get a great partner program. I´m pretty sure, that the reseller are going to love it. The resellers then have also freedom of choice about their partnership with GWAVA.
I started (officially) with GWAVA in 2003, so I have been working for 8 years now for this great company. I´m pretty sure, that in two years from now our "freedom of choice"strategy (this is my special wording for it) will have changed GWAVA in a very positiv way. It is going to be hard work, but it is going to be a lot of fun as well. And I will be part of it.
