GWAVA On-Premise Messaging Security

Scanning at the perimeter, the GWAVA soft appliance sits outside your messaging system to protect it from incoming viruses, spam, malware, and porn. It also guards against spammers taking control of your system. GWAVA runs on both 32-/64-bit Windows platforms as well as Linux, and supports full multi-tenant scanning. Its policy-based protection lets you set rules based on the entire system, one or more domains and one or multiple users. GWAVA offers true protection with maximum flexibility.

Perimeter Blocking

GWAVA blocks viruses and spam before they get into your email system. Once you set up the GWAVA SMTP scanner, it virtually runs itself. The SMTP scanner is distributed as an ISO with the GWAVA product so you can create your own spam scanning appliance using your own hardware. Since up to 90% of email is spam, eliminating all of that traffic means your messaging system can run faster and more efficiently.

Linux and Windows Support

GWAVA runs natively on both Linux® and Windows® (32- and 64-bit Windows). It is available as a soft appliance which can be installed directly on a physical computer or run as a virtual machine.

End User Spam Control

GWAVA sends each user a single email with a summary of emails blocked as spam. The user can then release any individual email from the real-time web-based quarantine system without administrator help.

Email Surveillance and Statistics

The GWAVA dashboard provides thorough and customizable statistics. With its easy-to-use browser-based UI, you can view a complete and up-to-the-minute landscape of how GWAVA is protecting your mail system.

Reports

GWAVA keeps you informed about the state of your messaging system. Set a schedule and GWAVA will deliver useful reports to your email. For example, GWAVA will deliver a “daily digest” of blocked messages. As an administrator you can keep track of how and what your system is tracking and blocking. Right from the report, you can authorize future messages from a domain among other options.

Alerts

Not only does GWAVA protect your messaging system, but it alerts you the instant a serious problem is detected. If any error occurs within the GWAVA program itself or from an external factor such as a network error that could potentially compromise your email, GWAVA will alert you to the problem.

Double-Layer Anti-Virus Protection with Kaspersky Integration

GWAVA integrates seamlessly with Kaspersky for the best anti-virus protection available for both in-bound and out-bound traffic. Because GWAVA operates at a low level in your network architecture, viruses are stopped before an outbreak can cost you thousands of dollars in lost time and data. In addition, GWAVA provides a second line of AV support with its zero-hour virus outbreak protection.

Protection Against Pornography

GWAVA helps you protect your employees, customers and reputation. The Image Analyzer in GWAVA makes sure that no pornography is getting into or originating from your messaging system. It analyzes images and videos using fast, multi-threaded technology and sophisticated techniques to accurately locate and block pornographic images.

GWAVA as a Hosted Solution

With its policy-based protection, GWAVA lets you set rules based on the entire system, one or more domains and one or multiple users. Support of multiple policies and multi-tenant architecture means that you can run GWAVA as a hosted solution for your SaaS applications.

Multi-System Support

Filter messaging at the perimeter of any standards-based Internet mail system, including Microsoft Exchange®, Novell GroupWise® or Lotus Domino®. GWAVA also supports collaboration systems such as Novell Vibe® and Microsoft Lync®.

Outbound Protection

Viruses and threats penetrate your network from a wide range of entry points. GWAVA, with inbound and outbound scanning, provides unique protection, ensuring that threats and damages are minimized. The blended threat of spam and viruses poses a new challenge to your organization dealing with outbound spam. Viruses that penetrate your perimeter defenses compromise your end user workstations.

Those workstations can then push spam out through your network, turning your system into a source for thousands of out-bound spam. GWAVA helps avoid problems which result from out-bound spam, including an IP becoming blocked or blacklisted, a damaged reputation, loss of resources, and a crippled messaging system. Cleaning up after an out-bound spam attack takes time and money and can leave your messaging system crippled.

GWAVA Spam-Blocking Functions

GWAVA has many layers of spam-blocking functions.

  • Address blocking—lets you create your own blocklists.
  • Content filtering—scans the subject, body, and attachments of messages for words or phrases you wish to stop. Content filtering not only saves time, it helps you prevent confidential information or offensive words from being disseminated.
  • Heuristics—using these rules, GWAVA searches each message for a list of spam characteristics and attributes a spam score to the message accordingly. The accuracy of heuristics means that GWAVA can determine what is spam so you don’t have to.
  • SURBL technology—using SURBLs (Spam URL Realtime Blocklists), GWAVA finds common URL links inside the spam email itself.
  • IP reputation scanning—filters messages based on the sending server's IP address (including greylisting).
  • Conversation tracking—tracks your conversations so that crucial replies and threads aren’t caught in the spam filter.
  • TLS support—provides support for end-to-end encryption of transmitted messages.
