Manchmal fühle ich mich alt. Gerade ist mir aufgefallen, dass ich schon seit 8 Jahren bei GWAVA arbeite. Eine wunderschöne Zeit – aber 8 Jahre sind 8 Jahre. Meine Kinder werden größer und Papa wird älter.

Sometimes I´m feeling old. Just realized that I´m already working 8 years for GWAVA. A really wonderful time, but 8 years are 8 years. My kids are growing and daddy is just getting older. The reason, which made me thinking about my total time at GWAVA was the announcement from the Attachmate Chairman and CEO Jeff Hawn "More importantly, we are committed to meeting GroupWise customers' needs well beyond these stated plans. We plan to leverage the collective expertise of the Novell team, invest in GroupWise R&D resources, and deliver key product capabilities customers require—including integration with collaboration products from Novell and others—over the long term. "

I personally already invested some time to review Attachmate. To be honest, they have not been on my personal radar for the acquisition of Novell. I had some contacts to Attachmate about 15 years ago, when my former company was sponsoring Novell events and one of the other sponsors was Attachmate. I have not heard over years from Attachmate again, so for me it was a "big" surprise, when they got into the picture. The number one thing I got out of my reviews is the fact, that Attachmate is never buying a company to destroy anything. They want to keep the customers happy and grow the business.

From all possible solutions, Attachmate is probably the best solution - at least for the GroupWise-customers. I have never in the last 8 years got so positive feedback from both GroupWise customers and partners about Novell = Attachmate. It seems, that GroupWise is going to get a revival. Attachmate is going to invest/re-invest money into GroupWise. Their target is to earn money with GroupWise, but more important to grow GroupWise and it´s market share. And now that customers as well as partners know about this upcoming plans, they feel more secure about their investments into their GroupWise strategy.

I´m personally really looking forward to work together with the new "sexy" Novell Attachmate. Let´s get GroupWise where it should be….. Let´s get ready to rumble…..
