Overview
Sacramento City Unified School District implemented GWAVA Reload because they needed immediate backups, quick data restoration and push-button disaster recovery for their GroupWise system.
Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD) has GroupWise post offices and domains that service 5,000 GroupWise users across 93 school and administration facilities.
Challenge
Prior to implementing Reload, the IT department had a difficult time getting a timely backup of their GroupWise post offices.
The third-party backup solution they had before Reload meant using tape backups. It usually would take 3 days to complete a backup cycle of their GroupWise system. Now with Reload, their post office backups take less than 2 hours every day.
Quick Message and Address Book Recovery
Because Reload integrates with the Restore feature of GroupWise, recovering an e-mail or calendar item is simple. When an employee of the school district calls the GroupWise Administrator, Barbara Gallegos, to restore an e-mail or calendar item, it only takes her about 15 minutes to get it done. Prior to Reload, restoring items took several hours. Just as with message recovery, Gallegos was delighted to find that she could also easily recover GroupWise address book information. Prior to using Reload, Gallegos could not find a suitable method for restoring users’ address books. Now with Reload, restoring an address book is almost as simple as restoring message and calendar items.
