MY THOUGHTS ON BRAINSHARE 2010

Category: Doug Stein

Going into BrainShare 2010 there was certainly a lot of FUD in the Novell and GroupWise space around the whole Elliott offer and in general around Novell.

Going into BrainShare 2010 there was certainly a lot of FUD in the Novell and GroupWise space around the whole Elliott offer and in general around Novell.

Just prior to the event I sent out a big email blast to people in the US Northeast, to see who would be coming to the event. Within one day I received over 150 replies!! If only everyone would be so responsive to my renewal emails. Kidding aside, almost everyone who replied said nothing about moving off GroupWise/Novell, uncertainty or anything of the sort. The overwhelming majority of respondents said that the only reason they weren't going, was lack of budget. This proves to me, that the Novell space is alive and well.

BrainShare was scaled down this year without a doubt, and the state of the economy was obviously the primary reason. The event was very good, and the mood of the attendees was also positive. This bodes well for BrainShare 2011. Hope to see you all there next year!
